Devin Haney won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Boxer of the Month award for his May 20 victory over Vasyl Lomachenko at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The rankings of the pioneering organization were published this Thursday, June 1, and with them the individual awards for the past month, in which Saul “Canelo” Alvarez was also awarded Honorable Mention.
Haney won a great victory by close unanimous decision over Lomachenko in a very exciting and competitive fight from start to finish. The American retained his WBA belt and the WBC, WBO and IBF crowns to remain the big name at 135 pounds and remain among the best pound-for-pound fighters of the moment.
For his part, Alvarez returned home in Guadalajara and defeated Rocky Fielding by unanimous decision to remain the undisputed 168-pound champion and prove that he is doing very well both physically and mentally after overcoming surgery last year.
The official rankings of the WBA with all the changes and movements corresponding to the last month can be reviewed on the website of the pioneer organization in the corresponding section.
