Nina Hughes will make the first defense of her World Boxing Association (WBA) bantamweight belt against Katie Healy this Saturday at Wembley Arena in London.
The bout will be part of the Matchroom Boxing evening in the capital of England where two undefeated women will fight for the crown.
For Hughes it has been a turbulent few months in her career. First for all the media attention she received for upsetting Jamie Mitchell and winning the crown in November last year and then for being set for her first defense against Shannon Courtenay, who had to pull out of the fight at the last minute.
After weeks of uncertainty, Hughes is now ready to defend her title and will do so on a good card, where she will have the opportunity to show her skills to the world once again.
Healy is an undefeated fighter who gets a great opportunity in her career and intends to take advantage of it. The 25-year-old challenger has been a professional since 2021 and has been moving up the ranks, adding rounds and gaining good experience in the professional arena.
Hughes has a record of 5 wins, no losses and 2 knockouts, while Healy has 6 wins in as many appearances.
