Erislandy Lara will defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) middleweight belt against Michael Zerafa this Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The fight will be part of the PBC event and will mark the return of the Cuban veteran to fulfill the mandatory fight against the Australian challenger.
Lara defeated Gary O’Sullivan in his last fight in 2022 and after a long time of inactivity he returns to the ring to fight to defend his title. The 40-year-old southpaw has an elusive style and impressive boxing, which he will try to show once again.
Zerafa , 32, is the division’s mandatory challenger. His youth could be an asset but he will be in the toughest fight of his career against an opponent of a different quality than anyone he has fought in the past.
The Oceanic fighter is on a four-fight winning streak, which is a reflection of the good sporting moment he is living, and to that he adds the motivation that comes with fighting for the black and gold belt.
Lara has 29 wins, 3 losses, 3 draws and 17 knockouts, while Zerafa has 31 wins, 4 setbacks and 19 knockouts.
