With the participation of boxers from Apure, Miranda and Aragua, the eighth edition of the Gilberto Mendoza Boxing Festival will be held this Saturday at the facilities of the Centro Recreacional Yesterday in Maracay.
The event celebrates the legacy of the World Boxing Association (WBA) President Emeritus, on the 81st anniversary of his birth.
This boxing festival is part of the WBA events program, aimed at promoting boxing from an early age, including children and adolescents, offering them all an opportunity to develop and learn values through sport.
This was one of the driving forces of the former president of the WBA, which boxing’s pioneer organization still supports.
The activities will begin on Saturday at 2:00 in the afternoon, with a program of ten Olympic or amateur boxing bouts.
This will be the commemoration of the life of a great leader, but most of all, of a man who marked the sport and its people in many ways.
