Paddy Donovan picked up another career win, this time over veteran Lewis Ritson, and remains the World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental welterweight champion.

Saturday’s Matchroom Boxing event in Leeds featured some great fights and Donovan was one of the highlights as he defeated Ritson by a ninth round technical knockout in one of the back-up bouts.

Donovan, 25, is an exciting boxer on the rise and showed his tools in a fight where he had to work well tactically to wear his opponent down and get the win late in the contest.

His movement around the ring and counter-punching boxing were on display to counter Ritson’s attacking style and forward movement throughout the fight. Donovan showed patience and good accuracy to land the better punches and take a big win for his career.

He now has a record of 14 wins, no losses and 11 knockouts, while Ritson now has a record of 23 wins, 4 losses and 13 knockouts.
