Argentina’s Fernando Martinez was named Boxer of the Month by the World Boxing Association (WBA) Championships Committee, while Russia’s Albert Batyrgaziev took the Honorable Mention.
The rankings for the seventh month of the year are now public and can be reviewed on the WBA’s website in the ranking section.
Martinez stepped into the ring in Japan on July 7 and defeated Kazuto Ioka by unanimous decision to take the WBA super flyweight title from him and unify it with the IBF title, which was already in his possession. The 33-year-old showed a great performance in a very complicated fight and as an away fighter.
For his part, Batyrgaziev won the interim super featherweight belt on July 12 by defeating Jono Carroll in a fight of many exchanges and action, but in which he knew how to go from less to more to sell a tough opponent and who gave a great fight.
The WBA congratulates both winners and invites to review all the movements of the ranking list to all the interested people.
