Unbeaten Cuban lightweight Jadier Herrera will put his WBA Intercontinental title on the line against José Macías of Mexico on March 15 in Liverpool, England.

At just 22 years old, Herrera will make the first defense of the belt he won in spectacular fashion on October 5, when he knocked out Nicaraguan veteran Oliver Flores in just three rounds to claim the WBA regional lightweight crown. The Cuban standout has been nothing short of destructive, boasting an unblemished 16-0 record with 14 of those wins coming by knockout.

Macías, a tough, aggressive Mexican fighter, presents a significant challenge. The 25-year-old has fought internationally three times but has yet to secure a win outside of Mexico, something he’s determined to change. His most recent outing saw him earn a unanimous decision victory over Abraham Oliva in Nuevo León, putting him in strong form heading into this title opportunity.

With a 21-3-2 record, Macías is searching for his first WBA title, while Herrera looks to continue his rise as one of the most dangerous young lightweights in the sport.
