He will be back in six months
WBA Press, February 18.- The Super Middleweight World Champion, Andre Ward is recovering smoothly after undergoing surgery to his right shoulder, due to a tear caused during a sparring session at the end of last year.
The surgery took place at the beginning of January and Ward started rehabilitation on Monday January 14.
The boxer said the injury occurred while he was throwing a punch, and at first doctors recommended rest and therapy, however, a second opinion remitted him to surgery, and now he is at the recovering phase which is going pretty well, he admitted.
“I still feel some discomfort to make some moves. Doctors gave a good prognosis for full recovery of the shoulder, and said that I should be back in the ring within six months”, explained the world champion to the WBA Medical Committee, through his promoter Goossen Tutor Promotions.
Ward stated that it relies on the professional team in charge of the monitoring the recovery process.

Prensa AMB. 18 de febrero.- El campeón supermediano Andre Ward se encuentra en franca mejoría después de ser sometido a cirugía de su hombro derecho, debido a un desgarre ocasionado durante una sesión de sparring a finales del año pasado.
La operación se realizó a comienzos del mes de enero, y Ward comenzó su rehabilitación el lunes 14 de enero.
El propio púgil comentó que su lesión se produjo mientras lanzaba un golpe, y que los médicos le recomendaron inicialmente reposo y terapia, sin embargo, una segunda opinión lo remitió a cirugía y ahora cumple el proceso de recuperación, el cual admite ha ido muy bien.
“Todavía siento algunas molestias al hacer algunos movimientos. Los médicos dieron un buen pronóstico para la recuperación total del hombro, y aseguran que debo estar de regreso al ring dentro de seis meses”, explicó el monarca mundial al Comité Médico de la AMB, a través de su promotora Goossen Tutor Promotions.
Ward indicó que confía en el equipo de profesionales encargados de supervisar el proceso de recuperación.
