Cuban prospect Andy Cruz will make his fifth professional fight on January 25 when he defends his World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Latin America lightweight crown against Mexican Omar Salcido.
The bout will take place at The Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas, in a Matchroom Boxing event that will feature several top level fighters and good bouts.
Cruz has been one of the most successful fighters in his country at the amateur level in recent years and jumped to the professional level in 2023. He has been facing very experienced opponents and has been overcoming those challenges in spite of his little experience in the professional boxing.
Salcido is 25 years old and defeated Chris Colbert by knockout in his most recent fight. It was his most important win so far and with that momentum he wants to take on Cruz as a big test for his career.
The Cuban has 4 wins and 2 knockouts, while Salcido has 20 wins, 1 loss and 14 knockouts.
