The World Boxing Association (WBA) announced its rankings for the month of December and Anthony Joshua won the award as Boxer of the month, while Gervonta Davis received the Honorable Mention.
December was a month of much activity for the oldest sanctioning body in the world, which managed to fight in almost every continent and be protagonists in all the squares around the world.
Joshua avenged the lone defeat of his career against Andy Ruiz to regain his WBA Super Heavyweight Championship. Joshua won a unanimous decision over Ruiz while being in control for the majority of the fight and showcasing his talent and skills in the ring.
For his part, Gervonta Davis scored a 12th round TKO victory over Yuriorkis Gamboa. Davis knocked his man down three times in the fight in a thrilling bout where Davis had to dig deep to get his second wind to score the stoppage late in the fight.
