WBA Official Challenger Austin “No Doubt” Trout (21-0, 13 KOs) of Las Cruces, NM returns on Saturday, December 4 in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico to face interim WBA Super Welterweight champion Rigoberto “El Español” Alvarez (26-2, 19KOs) of Mexico. The card is being headlined by Rigoberto Alvarez’s brother Saul Alvarez (34-0-1, 26 KOs).
The 25 year old undefeated southpaw is currently training in Oxnard, CA having been called in to help out three-time world champion, the “Tijuana Tornado” Antonio Margarito (38-6, 27 KOs) prepare for his up coming bout against seven-time world champion Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 KOs), which takes place on Saturday, November 13th at the $1.2 billion Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX.
“It’s been great coming here to Oxnard. Getting to help out Antonio Margarito prepare for his fight has been great,” said Trout. “I’m excited to be getting back in the ring and fighting for my first world title. I know its going to be a great fight and I can’t wait. ”While in Oxnard, CA, Austin Trout has also been asked to help out two other fighters, one of them being knockout artist and world-ranked junior welterweight contender Lucas Matthysse (27-0, 25 KOs), as he prepares for his showdown with Zab “Super” Judah (39-6, 27 KOs), which takes place on Saturday, November 6th and the other fighter being middleweight champion Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez (45-2-2, 24 KOs) who faces two-time welterweight champion Paul “The Punisher” Williams (39-1, 27 KOs), on Saturday, November 20th.
“I’m not only helping them prepare for their fights but they’re helping me prepare for my fight as well. Getting in good rounds in the gym with all of these great fighters only helps me get better as a fighter,” continued Trout.
In his last outing, Trout defeated Taronze Washington (14-14, 7 KOs) via unanimous decision at the Petroleum Club in Dallas, TX.
