Friday night at Omega Products International in Corona, California, WBA-NABA super bantamweight champion Danny “The Baby Faced Assassin” Roman (20-2-1, 7 KOs), from Los Angeles, California, successfully retained his title with a unanimous decision victory over former Mexican super flyweight champion Enrique Quevedo (16-8-1, 10 KOs), from Los Algodones, Baja California, Mexico.
The final scores were 100-90 and 97-94 twice.
Quevedo is 32. He was 5-4-1 in his last 10 fights. He was game and rugged, but it was an uphill battle against a 26-year-old with fresh legs riding a 12-fight win streak.
Roman was ranked #8 by the WBA going into the fight. With his 13th straight victory, “The Baby Faced Assassin,” who looks every inch a champion, is positioned for some big fights in the not too distant future.
“I know I belong with the best,” said Roman. “Quevedo couldn’t hit me and he never seemed comfortable.”
We’ve not heard the last of Danny Roman.
