Mexican-American Mario Barrios (24-0, 16 KO’s) and Uzbekistan native Batyr Akhmedov (7-0, 6 KO’s) held a press conference in Los Angeles for their fight for the Vacant WBA Super Lightweight World Title that will happen this Saturday at the Staples Center in California.
Barrios, hand in hand with the legendary coach Virgil Hunter, will be fighting in his first world title fight.
On the other hand, Akhmedov will seek to make history by crowning himself in his eighth professional fight.
Every press conference always has a space for statements to be made that can turn heads and this was no exception.
The first to take the microphone was Akhmedov, who expressed the following: “I don’t come to talk much, I come prepared and ready to make a great presentation and conquer that title.”
“This is an important opportunity for any boxer, so I thank everyone who made it possible for me to get here,” added the undefeated fighter.
The pride of San Antonio, Texas, was the second to speak and he did it with the confidence of a world title challenger.
“I have worked hard for this moment, I will not disappoint all those who have fought with me,” Barrios said.
“There is not much to talk about, the work is ready, now it is time to seek victory and continue climbing to achieve great things,” concluded the Mexican-American boxer.
With the press conference completed, only the official weigh-in ceremony would be left for today, so that both fighters climb the ring in this event that presents TGB Promotions on Fox Sports broadcast.
