The Cuban Rances Barthelemy and the Belarusian Kiryl Relikh went face-to-face this Thursday at the press conference prior to their bout next Saturday in Maryland, United States. This will be an elimination fight in the World Boxing Association Super Lightweight division.
Barthelemy, who has already been Super Lightweight and Featherweight champion, claimed to be ready to fight at 140 pounds. “I’m living a dream right now that I myself never in a million years imagined. Every time I get to speak with my mother in Cuba, I tell her of this dream that I am currently living and how it is still surreal to me. To be able to fight on these big cards in the United States”, said the Latin American boxer.
For his part, Relikh said he was very happy to be able to be part of that boxing evening, since he considers it a great step in his career. “Camp was perfect. I have a great team and I’m ready for anything. We worked hard and it’s going to be a great performance”, said the Belarusian.
For this bout to be held, the boxers only have to make weight this Friday May 19th.
