Conor Benn and Chris Van Heerden declared to be ready at the official press conference before their fight this Saturday at the Manchester Arena for the World Boxing Association (WBA) continental welterweight title.
The WBA regional champion will be making the seventh defense of his belt against a top veteran and the bout is expected to be a good fight.
Benn and Van Heerden have had a busy schedule this week. In addition to putting the finishing touches on the fight they have had to do media tours, public workouts and press conferences, events that have been heating up for the fight.
“I love challenges. I’ll get through this one with flying colors. If I see an opportunity, I’ll take him out,” Benn assured in his speech during the press conference.
Van Heerden will be in the UK for the first time and stressed that for him it is a dream come true: “I’m ready for this. It was a dream and a vision to fight in the UK. I’m here to win.”
Now all that’s left for them is step on the scales and make the division’s 147 lbs. Once the weight is made, they’ll be ready for the weekend bout.
