The Executive Committee, the President and all the family of the World Boxing Association wish the Panamanian champion Anselmo “Chemito” Moreno great success in his new stage after he announced his retirement from boxing.
The Panamanian gladiator showed he was a great boxer throughout his career, in which he was WBA Bantamweight Champion. He obtained this title in 2008 after beating the Ukrainian Volodymyr Sydorenko. After his seventh defense, he was promoted to Super Champion at 118 pounds and remained at the top until 2014, when he fell to Juan Carlos Payano by technical decision. In addition, he was a tireless collaborator of the “KO Drugs” campaign, WBA social responsibility program, in which he won two battles.
“Chemito was a great boxer. He proved his worth in the ring, and we wish him the best of luck in his new stage. I’m sure he will overcome all the challenges he faces if he does so with the seriousness he showed in the ring”, said Gilberto Jesús Mendoza, President of the WBA.
Anselmo Moreno leaves boxing with a record of 36 victories, 6 defeats, one draw and 12 knockouts.
