Dmitry Bivol and Sullivan Barrera are ready to fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Light Heavyweight Championship at the Madison Square Garden in New York. The boxers completed the weigh-in ceremony, which is the last step to carry out the fight, and will enter the ring on Saturday night.
The Russian, who is the current champion, hit the scales at 174.4 pounds. For his part, the Cuban stopped the scale at 173.6 pounds. For Bivol, this will be the first defense of this belt, after having won an Interim and a Regional belt in the past. Barrera, who is a tough challenger, has fought against several big names in the division and plans to snatch the belt from the champion.
Bivol has a record of 12 wins, no losses and 10 knockouts, while Barrera has 21 wins, 1 loss and 14 fights knockouts.
