Dominic Boesel defeated Robin Krasniqi in their World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight eliminator fight on Saturday at the GEREC Arena in Magdeburg, Germany.
The German won by split decision: 115-114, 116-112 and 114-115, winning an important rematch in his career and proving that he has the ability to bounce back in tough moments and come out on top.
In October 2020, Boesel faced Krasniqi as a favorite but received an early knockout that was very painful to his aspirations. Despite the tough loss, he returned to the ring with a win in May and once he got back on the winning track, he sought a new opportunity against his last year’s tormentor.
This time the story was different and after 12 rounds Boesel came away with a close decision, in a performance in which he was much improved from his previous one. He was able to withstand Krasniqi’s first few rounds and took advantage of his diminished condition in the second half of the fight to come back and take advantage on the scorecards.
Boesel won the WBA eliminator and improved his record to 32 wins, 2 losses and 12 knockouts, while Krasniqi dropped his record of 51 wins, 7 losses and 19 knockouts.
