World Boxing Association (WBA) Women’s bantamweight champion Yésica Bopp, from Argentina, and her Mexican challenger Jessica Nery Plata, made weight in Panama City on Thursday and are ready to star tomorrow in the first of two bouts of the 37th edition of the KO Drugs.
La “Tuti” weighed in at 108 pounds, while Nery scored 117.25, both at the limit of the division and are ready to jump into the ring of the Majestic Casino in the main fight of the evening.
It will be a women’s event that will take place on Friday and will feature fighters of various nationalities with very interesting fights. In addition to the main fight, the super flyweight eliminator fight between Clara Lescurat, who weighed in at 114 pounds, and Nataly Delgado, who weighed in at 115, stands out.
Colombian Veronica Zuluaga stopped the scales at 116.75, while her Mexican opponent Maryan Salazar weighed in at 118 pounds for her bantamweight fight. Another Colombian in action will be Paulina Angel, who weighed 125.5 pounds, and will face Mexico’s Itzel Reyes, who scored 120.5 pounds.
Finally, Colombian Monica Henao and Panamanian Chantall Martinez will clash in a fight agreed at 138 pounds and both were below that weight.
On Saturday, the second evening of the festival will take place at the Roberto Durán Arena, which will feature men’s fights.
