The World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Champion, Argentine Yesica Bopp, and her Venezuelan challenger Johana Zúñiga, complied with the weight for their bout on Friday at the Baby Sugar Rojas Coliseum, in Barranquilla, Colombia.
The Argentinean, one of the longest reigning champions in the history of women’s boxing, will once again expose her title. This time she will face an undefeated opponent who will have her first world title opportunity and is very motivated for this fight. The champion weighed 108 pounds, while the challenger weighed 106.2 pounds, and now the will step into the ring to dispute the title.
Bopp had been inactive since 2019 due to the pandemic and her intention to participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She re-emerged last month for a six-round bantamweight (three categories above) knockout, in which she lost by split decision.
Now she feels ready to defend her crown and this Friday she will do it against Zuniga in what will mark a real comeback for “Tuti”.
