Joshua Buatsi will defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) International Light Heavyweight title against Frenchman Daniel Dos Santos in the main fight of the Matchroom event to be held this Saturday at the Manchester Arena, in England.
The Ghana native but British national will make the sixth defense of his regional belt. Buatsi, 28, has been growing and making a name for himself in recent years, especially since he won the belt in July 2018 with a knockout victory over Latvia’s Andrejs Pokumeiko.
The former Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medalist has defended the belt five times over the past three years. His most recent defense was in October 2020, when he defeated the previously undefeated Marko Calic by TKO.
Now he will fight Dos Santos, who is undefeated and who knocked out Nicolov in one round in his last fight back in April. The Frenchman will be making his first fight outside his country and this will not be an easy challenge, but he wants to surprise everyone.
On Friday they will step on the scale, where they need to weigh 175 pounds or less to be eligible to fight. Buatsi has 13 wins, no losses, and 11 KOs. Dos Santos has 15 wins, 8 by KO.
