Ryan Burnett and Nonito Donaire had only praise for each other during the press conference prior to their expected battle this Saturday at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland, where they will compete for the World Boxing Association’s Super World Bantamweight Title in the World Boxing Super Series.

The winner of the fight between Burnett and Donaire will unify titles in his next bout against the African Zolani Tete. The winner of this tournament, which also includes the WBA champion Naoya Inoue as well as Emmanuel Rodriguez, will take the Muhammad Ali trophy home with him.

“We’ve all dreamed about this, sitting here and facing the best in the hope of becoming the best in the world,” said Burnett, who will be exhibiting the WBA super championship at 118 pounds. “And it’s not just for boxers, it’s also for fans, this is what the world needs,” Burnett added.

“Nonito is a dangerous fighter, I think there are many things that you can exploit of each fighter, but with Nonito there is not much, he is an incredible fighter. This will be the toughest fight, but I want to stay on the road to victory,” said Burnett (19-0, 9 KOs).

“The only thing I need to do in boxing is to become an undisputed champion,” said Donaire (38-5, 24 KOs). “I have won many championships in boxing including the knockout of the year, the fighter of the year, but this (being undisputed champion) has me really turned on,” he stated.

“I’ve always fought with the best and that’s why I entered this tournament,” commented ‘Filipino Flash’. “I did not come here to make predictions, I came here because I have a mission and that mission is victory. This is the time to get up,” Donaire said about the upcoming battle.
