Celestino Caballero (34-3, 23KOs) got his wish. After making a petition the WBA’s championship committee voted to make him the mandatory challenger to “regular” WBA featherweight champion Jonathan Victor Barros (31-1, 18KOs), who won the vacant title last December. However, it was also ruled that Barros would receive extension of the voluntary period before having to make his mandatory defense against Caballero. Barros now has 180 days before he has to fight the mandatory.
