Campillo ready for rematch!

WBA light heavyweight champion Gabriel Campillo cannot wait for the rematch between himself and Beibut Shumenov this Friday January 29th at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. “I am really looking forward to beating him again this Friday. This time I will knock him out and the fans will see a true champion at work,” said Campillo. Since beating Shumenov in the very hostile environment of his own county of Kazakhstan, Campillo has anxiously waited for the rematch he readily agreed to. “I was treated improperly after the first fight, and I jumped at the opportunity to get to beat him again,” said the champion.

“Gabriel Campillo was very disappointed that the world did not get to see the first fight” said Ricardo Sanchez Atocha, the manger and trainer of WBA champion. “Apparently Mr. Shumenov did not want anyone to see how soundly he was beaten by my Champion. He clearly lost the first fight, and for him to claim otherwise, shows just how manipulative these people are. If they really think they won, I challenge them to release the video tape of the fight and let the media and the public see what happened. Hiding behind punch stat numbers, when you produced the show for television only to refuse to air it after you lost, is cowardly,” continued Atocha. “Shumenov was being beaten from pillar to post by the twelfth round and just barely made the bell.”

When asked about the recent statements from the Shumenov camp, Sampson Lewkowicz from Sampson Boxing LLC., the promoter of Campillo stated, “I am really proud of my champion and the way he handled his first defense of his world title. Gabriel Campillo will continue to show his talents and emerge victorious again this Friday night.”
