The city of San Diego experienced the first face-to-face appearance of Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol, who held their first press conference to promote their WBA light heavyweight title fight on May 7.

“Canelo will be looking for a new crown in his career and will challenge the WBA 175 lbs. champion as a new challenge in his career. A challenge that generates many expectations and of which both spoke in front of the press and fans present at the event.

The atmosphere was very calm, with no friction between the fighters but with serious faces on both sides. Both gave their impressions of the fight and talked about different aspects related to it.

“I like the challenges. I have a very good fighter in front of me. I’m excited for this fight,” Alvarez said in his speech during the conference.

In the case of Bivol, he made clear the importance of the fight and what it means to him: “This is very important for me. This is a great fight to help me achieve my goals.”

Both will continue with the promotion in the coming days, and then return to their training camps to continue preparing for the showdown.
