Saul “Canelo” Alvarez won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Boxer of the Month award after his great victory over Gennady Golovkin last September 17 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The pioneer organization published its September ranking with all the changes in each category and, in addition, granted the award to the Mexican for defending his undisputed 168-pound title.
Alvarez returned to the division in which he reigns after losing to Dmitry Bivol in May at light heavyweight. He made the long awaited third fight with “GGG” and won by unanimous decision in a very mediatic fight with good action.
This was an important victory for Canelo to prove that he is the great figure of boxing in the world. The Guadalajara native has a record of 58 wins, 2 losses, 2 draws and 39 knockouts.
