The best pound-for-pound fighter today, Mexico’s Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, will return to the ring on February 27 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami to face Turkey’s Avni Yildirim for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Middleweight Super Championship and the WBC title.
Álvarez announced that he will fight again only a little more than two months after his most recent bout on December 19, when he defeated British Callum Smith in Texas.
The Guadalajara native held and Instagram LIVE in which he announced all the details of his next fight and some other things about what he expects for 2021, highlighting again his intention to have three fights this year.
Now, he will fight a Turkish boxer who comes with a strong desire to surprise everyone and a physical advantage over him.
The fight will be broadcast on DAZN in most countries and will be promoted by Matchroom Boxing.
Canelo comes into the fight with a record of 54 wins, 1 loss, 2 draws, and 36 KOs, while Yildirim has a record of 21 wins, 2 losses, and 12 KOs.
