Saul Alvarez has only one goal and that is to return to the path of triumph. Next September 17 he will step into the ring to defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Middleweight Super Championship, IBF and WBO and WBC belts against Gennady Golovkin in Las Vegas and he intends to put his defeat against Dmitry Bivol behind him.
This Tuesday he was at a Media Day as part of the promotion of his fight against the Kazakh. He talked about what his previous defeat means but mainly about his professional goals.
“When you are looking for greatness, you will find difficult paths. I’m on that path, in that position right now. No matter what, I’m going to achieve what I want,” the Mexican assured.
“I just want to be in the ring and show everyone my comeback,” he continued.
Alvarez had unfriendly words for GGG. Once again he assures that he has taken this fight more personal for different considerations.
“Since the second fight, he started saying all these things about me, that I was a cheater and a disgrace, that I was dishonest,” Canelo told Fight Hub TV.
“I don’t know why, but that’s why it’s so personal. Also, I don’t like people who say one thing, pretend and say something else, talking about respect. I respect what he’s done in his career, but that’s why all this bothers me,” Canelo said about Golovkin.
Alvarez and Golovkin continue to promote their fight as they prepare for September, when the third fight between the two will take place.
