In advance of Saturday’s championship bout at GETEC Arena in Magdeburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany, WBA World heavyweight champ Ruslan Chagaev (33-2-1, 20 KOs), from Hamburg, Germany, by way of Andijan, Uzbekistan, and #12 ranked Francesco Pianeta (31-1-1, 17 KOs), from Gelsenkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, by way of Corigliano Calabro, Calabria, Italy, the fighters took to the scales one day prior to tomorrow’s big event.
Chagaev weighed in at 246 lbs. He has fought at that weight before, but that much poundage on his 5’11” frame might be a liability.
Pianeta, the 6’5” challenger, came in at a sleek 242.5 lbs.
