On May 14, the long-awaited rematch between Jermell Charlo and Brian Castaño will take place in California with the WBA super welterweight super championship and the IBF, WBC and WBO belts at stake.
Charlo is the WBA, WBC and IBF champion. He will face the Argentinean, WBO champion, in search of the desired undisputed 154-pound championship and feels ready to surpass him after drawing last year.
“It is one of the most sublime achievements for any boxer. any boxer. I will enjoy the moment and and I’m going to have fun in the ring on May 14, five days before my birthday. I’m ready to win this fight in an impressive way,” said the American.
The 31-year-old fighter said that he now has a different approach that will help him in this fight.
“I’m more dedicated and hungry for glory than ever. I don’t know what will come to my life after this fight, but I’m happy for the fact that God has given me this opportunity to have a rematch to perform even better. This is about being the best version of myself,” he continued.
“For me, I want all the action. Maybe this time I’ll be more in the middle of the ring. Castaño didn’t throw as many punches as he usually does against me. Why? Simple, because he was injured. The fight would have been over if he threw more punches. This time, I will crush him,” assured the champion of the pioneer organization.
