May 21st will be a special day for Panamanian boxing. Anselmo Moreno, Jezreel Corrales, Ricardo “Científico” Núñez, and Ernesto Marín will step into the ring at Los Andes Mall during the “Póker de Ases” boxing card.
The main fight will be the return of “Chemito” Moreno (38W-6L-1D, 12KOs), one of Panama’s great boxing idols and former world champion, who will face Mexican Antonio Tostado (25W-7L, 12KOs) in a featherweight bout.
Moreno had reappeared in 2019 after two years of inactivity and then had to make another pause due to the pandemic. But now that the conditions are in place, he will make his comeback and feels motivated.
The card will take place at Los Andes Mall, where Panamanian Jezreel Corrales will also see action at 135 pounds.
“We know it will not be an easy fight, but the good thing is that we are fighting in our backyard, fighting in Panama, and that is an advantage that Panamanians have every time we do not fight abroad”, said the former WBA champion in statements reported by TVMAX.
Meanwhile, Jezreel Corrales (23-4, 9 KOs) will reappear at lightweight to face Mexican Miguel Ángel Martínez (15-3, 10 KOs). The former 130-pound super champion has embarked on a new journey in which he intends to reach the top again and will make his first fight since January 2020 when he lost to Chris Colbert.
For his part, “El Científico” Núñez will fight Dominican and WBA Fedelatin champion Alfredo Santiago at lightweight.
Finally, lightweight prospect Ernesto “El Problema” Marín (9-0, 5 KOs) will fight for the WBA-Fedecentro belt against his countryman José Beitia.
The WBA takes as great news the return to action of the great stars of this country for the benefit of local boxing and with projection to next important fights.
