Hyun Mi Choi won the December Female Boxer of the Month award of the World Boxing Association (WBA) after her victory over Colombian Calista Silgado on December 18th in Florida, USA.
With the release of the female ranking of the oldest organization in the world, the Korean was recognized as the top figure of the month, while the Argentinean Nazarena Romero was distinguished with the Honorable Mention thanks to her victory over Julieta Cardozo in Córdoba, Argentina.
Choi had an important fight since it was her first presentation in the United States, hand in hand with Matchroom Boxing, and during an important event with the presence of Gennady Golovkin in the main fight. The Asian woman gave the first demonstration of her quality in the United States and is now ready for the immediate future of her career in better markets.
Romero’s story is a touching one, as she has been able to get up to get where she is. The opportunity to fight for the interim belt was a blessing for her, as she pointed out on several occasions, and she didn’t want to miss the chance. She gave a great presentation in her country and now she is looking for the big names in the division.
