Super welterweight sensation Souleymane Cissokho will return to the ring on March 5 to face Roberto Valenzuela Jr. for his World Boxing Association (WBA) Intercontinental championship.
The bout will take place at the Pechanga Arena, in San Diego, California and will be included in the Matchroom Boxing showcase, which will feature Roman Gonzalez and Julio Cesar Martinez as the main event.
Cissokho is Senegalese native but holds French citizenship. He has a rather elegant boxing and aggressive fighting style that fans like. The 30-year-old fighter will be making the second defense of his regional belt.
His opponent will be the hard-hitting Mexican Valenzuela, who will try to take the crown from him. At just 22 years of age, the Sonora native will return to the United States, where he has not fought since 2019. He has an eight-fight winning streak and the confidence to win his first professional victory outside of his country.
Cissokho is undefeated in 14 fights won, 9 of them by way of knockout. In Valenzuela’s case, he has 23 wins, 2 losses and 19 knockouts.
