The undisputed middleweight title bout between Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall was confirmed on Tuesday and will take place at the O2 Arena, London, on September 10.
Claressa, the WBA, WBC and IBF 160 lbs. champion, will face the undefeated Briton, who holds the WBO belt in the category.
Shields vs. Marshall is a fight that has been rumored for quite some time and both have created a rivalry that has raised expectations. They are two of the best fighters of the moment and the matchup looks pretty even on paper.
While Marshall has the home advantage, Claressa already knows what it’s like to fight outside of the United States and has had good fights abroad, so she could counter that. In fact, her recent victory over Ema Kozin was in Wales.
The American has a record of 12 wins, no losses and 2 knockouts, while Marshall has 12 wins, 10 by knockout.
