World Boxing Association former world champion Danish Mikkel Kessler, celebrates his 35th birthday, and we wish him happiness and a great birthday.
The Viking, as he is known in the boxing world, was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on March 1, 1979, and debuted in professional boxing in 1998.
12 November 2004, with a record of 34-0 he fought for the WBA super middleweight title against Puerto Rican Manny Siaca. He made four successful defenses before facing Joe Calzaghe on November 3, 2007, to lose his belt and his unbeaten record after 39 victories.
On June 21, 2008, he regained the vacant Strip defeating Dimitri Sartison, and defended it a couple of times before losing to American Andre Ward on November 21, 2009.
Three more victories, and, on 8 of December 2012 defeated Brian Magee by TKO 8, but falls in his first defense against Carl Froch on 25 may 2013.
Kessler has always been a warrior in the ring, and a WBA unconditional ally. We are proud he is part of our huge family; we hope he continues conquering successes and that he has a happy birthday.
