Matchroom Boxing announced the first dates for the second edition of its Fight Camp. The first of them will take place on July 31st and will have the World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Welterweight Champion, Conor Benn, defending his crown against Adrian Granados, in addition to the appearance of WBA Bantamweight champion Shannon Courtenay.
The Fight Camp consists of several events that take place at the British promoter’s mansion in Brentwood, and its first edition was in 2020 when the activity was resumed after the pause due to the pandemic.
Now, in its second edition, there will be good names and great bouts just like the main fight of the first date. Benn is one of the most important young welterweight fighters. With only 24 years of age, he is already continental champion and will make the fifth defense of his belt. He has faced and defeated experienced opponents in a convincing way.
His intention is to get a chance against the big names of the division in the short term but first he will have to beat Granados, a tough opponent with the blood of a Mexican warrior, who has already fought Adrien Broner, Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia, and Robert Easter Jr., which gives him a very interesting experience.
For her part, Courtenay will make the first defense of the belt she won last April 10th against Australian Ebanie Bridges. The 27-year-old British champion’s next opponent will be announced in the coming days.
The WBA expects this edition of Fight Camp to be equal or better than the last one in terms of quality fights and good entertainment for the sport fans.
