Kieron Conway made a great fight at the Marchroom Fight Camp on Friday and defeated Navid Mansouri by unanimous decision of 99-92, 98-92 and 98-92 to become the new World Boxing Association (WBA) Intercontinental Super Welterweight Champion.
Conway, a native of Northamptonshire, came from less to more during the fight to win it. The 24-year-old fighter worked well with his jab and knew how to get his combinations into Mansouri’s face.
Although Conway was getting the best part of most of the rounds, his most important round was the seventh, when he really hurt Mansouri and cornered him while the referee watched closely with apparent intent to intervene. Mansouri survived, but the rest of the fight went to Conway’s side, who won by broad decision.
The new WBA Intercontinental 154-pound Champion left his record at 15 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 3 KOs, while Mansouri now has 20 wins, 4 losses and 2 draws.
