Isaac Cruz will return to the ring on April 16 to face Cuban Yuriorkis Gamboa on the undercard of the great event where Yordenis Ugas will unify his World Boxing Association (WBA) welter belt against IBF champion Errol Spence Jr.

Cruz and Gamboa pose an interesting fight and a guaranteed show for boxing fans around the world. The Mexican fighter lost to Gervonta Davis for the WBA lightweight title last December 5, but left a great impression and has earned the opportunity to appear in another big event quickly.

The “Pitbull” is an aggressive and courageous fighter who knows how to make his opponents uncomfortable and gives no truce at any time. At just 23 years of age, he has already made a name in the lightweight division and the public loves his style.

This time he will face a veteran of a thousand battles as Cuban Gamboa, a legendary fighter who at 40 years of age is still going strong. The Guantanamo fighter has two consecutive defeats, both of them against world champions Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis.

For that reason, this fight against Cruz means a lot for the Antillean, who needs to get back to winning ways and if he beats Cruz, he would show that his level is still good enough to compete at 135 pounds.

Cruz comes into the fight with a record of 22 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 15 knockouts. Gamboa has 30 wins, 4 losses and 18 knockouts.

Asenjo: "Every day I visualize myself as a champion".
