Dalton Smith won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Intercontinental super lightweight title by unanimous decision over Spain’s Brian Pelaez on Friday at the Worthersee Stadium in Klagenfurt, Austria.
The judges gave identical scorecards of 99-91 for the Briton as evidence of his dominance and superiority during the 10 rounds of the bout.
The 24-year-old boxer has had a meteoric rise and in a two-year career has made a name for himself among the 140-pound prospects. Winning his first regional title puts him on a new level and with his sights set on bigger opportunities in the near term.
The undefeated fighter earned his 9th win, while he is undefeated and has knocked out 7 opponents. Pelaez has a record of 10 wins, 6 losses and 1 knockout.
