Davis-Santa Cruz will fight for the WBA Super Featherweight and Lightweight titles this Saturday

Gervonta Davis and Leo Santa Cruz will meet in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, this Saturday night. The fight will be one of the most important of the year and will put at stake Santa Cruz’ Super Featherweight Super Championship, in addition to Davis’ Lightweight Championship.

The fight will be in the 130-pound category, but both belts will be on the line and the winner takes all.

Davis is a southpaw, young, strong and has a fighting style that creates a spectacle for the fans. The Lightweight Champion is known for his large number of KOs, and has the tools to dominate the ring against opponents of different styles.

Gervonta has been WBA Champion since April 2018. In that occasion, he won the 130-pound belt by defeating Jesus Cuellar, a title he defended twice against Hugo Ruiz and Ricardo Nuñez. In December last year, he moved up to the Lightweight division to fight Yuriorkis Gamboa for the black and gold belt, a fight in which he got the victory to be crowned in that category as well.

As for Santa Cruz, it will be a very special fight for him. “El Famoso Terremoto” is Featherweight and Super Featherweight Super Champion, so a victory in this fight would make him champion in three categories simultaneously.

Santa Cruz is 32 years old and is a brawler in every sense of the word. He likes to exchange punches, is brave and one of the boxers who throws the most punches by round today.

The fight will have a limited audience attendance, which means great news for boxing in the midst of the current situation. Davis has a record of 23 wins, no losses, and 22 KOs; while Leo has a record of 37 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw, and 19 KOs.

Barrios will defend his WBA title against Karl in the undercard of Davis-Santa Cruz
