Gervonta Davis successfully defended his super featherweight championship of the World Boxing Association (WBA) on Saturday night in Baltimore, Maryland, by beating Ricardo “The Scientist” Nunez in the second round.

“Tank” did not disappoint his fans and ended the fight via second round technical knockout at the time of 1 minute and 33 seconds.

The fight was expected to have fireworks because of the power in the fists of both fighters, and the outcome showed just that. The first tours was very technical, with Nunez looking for the body and Davis also throwing powerful blows while looking for the knockout.

The second round of the night arrived and Davis trapped the Panamanian on the ropes and connected with a left hook that shook him and left him in poor condition. This left the door open for Davis to unload more of his arsenal, forcing referee Harvey Dock to stop the fight in protection of Nunez.

For Davis, who was accompanied by his advisor Floyd Mayweather Jr., the knockout was the cherry on the cake to break a drought of decades without boxing headliners in his city. Meanwhile, Nunez left empty-handed to Panama, which still has not had a world champion since 2017.

With this victory Davis left his unbeaten record at 22 wins and 21 knockouts. Meanwhile, Nunez was left with a record of 21 wins, 19 knockouts and 3 losses.

What should be done in case of a double fall?
