World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental welterweight champion Paddy Donovan will face Lewis Ritson on May 25 at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, United Kingdom.
The Irishman will defend his crown for the second time against an experienced opponent in an evening promoted by Matchroom Boxing, according to the official announcement.
Donovan won his belt last November 25 with a technical knockout over Danny Ball in Dublin. He returned to the ring on January 27 against Williams Herrera, whom he also knocked out to retain his crown and is now ready for another defense.
Ritson has taken a break after losing to Ohara Davies last year and now feels 100 percent ready to return to the ring. The 30-year-old veteran has faced the likes of Miguel Vazquez, Dejan Zlaticanin, among others, which is evidence of his experience.
Donovan is undefeated in 13 fights, 10 of them won by knockout, while Ritson has a record of 23 wins, 3 losses and 13 knockouts.
