The main fight of the World Boxing Association (WBA) KO Drugs Boxing Festival World Boxing Association (WBA) KO Drugs Boxing Festival, Mexican Emmanuel “pollo” López defeated Colombian Carlos “batey” Padilla, by TKO 9 in the ninth roundS, to conquer the WBA Super Featherweight interim title.
Without study, the two challengers came out with an effective aggressiveness in the first round, delighting the audience with two separate bombings and exchanges from different angles, around the ring.
In the second, the Colombian introduced the left jab, while he moved forward with a provocative offensive. Pollo attacked with body shots and fighting inside at times.
Lopez did not know the reverse and kept at the forefront of Padilla in the third, despite getting the worst part whenever they exchanged punches.
The Mexican continued huge pressure in the fourth, without giving a single inch of land, front of the Colombian. Padilla took advantage of the open spaces, when they fought punishing the mid zone. Rodriguez did not stop his infernal offensive.
In the fifth, the intense attack in the mid zone began to pay dividends to the Mexican, since Padilla considerably decreased his punches, while the pollo punished with greater intensity, without an offensive response from the Colombian.
Lopez controlled the action in the sixth round, connecting the skull of the Colombian, with numerous power shots. Padilla moved around the ring as a Banshee, unanswered, without defense.
A monstrous right hand flying from Lopez left Padilla very hurt to at the beginning of the seventh. Lopez attempted to capitalize chasing the Colombian, shooting at point-blank range, in search of the “kill”. The Colombian, who already barely could through his hands, endured everything and a little more, until Lopez finally sent him to the canvas with another devastating right hand, with seconds to end the assault. Padilla, with much effort returned to defeat the count of Puerto Rican referee, Luis Pabón.
In the eighth, Padilla responded better, trying to return to the fight, although he continued having difficulties with the pressure and furious offensive the Mexican exercised by him.
A stab (right hand to the stomach) of Lopez left Padilla on canvas, writhing in pain. Once again, the brave Colombian rose and beat the count of Pabon. Pollo not wasted more time and went to the frontal attack, scorching all his ammunition, to the point that Padilla was already helpless, without anything else in the well. In the midst of a merciless blast of Lopez, Pabon intervened to stop the hostilities to the minute 2:24.
Emmanuel “Pollo” López conquered the WBA Super Featherweight interim title and improves his record to 18-4-1, 7 KOs. Carlos “Batey” Padilla was left with the record 15-2-1 y 9 KOs.
