Chris Eubank Jr. had not appeared in a boxing ring since December 2019. The pandemic pause had driven the World Boxing Association (WBA) Interim Middleweight Champion away from fighting, but this Saturday he was finally able to return and beat Marcus Morrison in a dominant performance in Manchester, England.
The big Matchroom Boxing event at the Manchester Arena featured Eubank as one of the main attractions, and the 31-year-old fighter got a great victory in a match that did not have his black and gold belt at stake.
The three judges’ scorecards were 98-92, evidencing the dominating performance of the 160-pound champion. Eubank worked very calmly but forcefully and put his rival in trouble many times.
Although Morrison was brave and tried to fight back, he was overshadowed by the strength of Eubank, who landed good punches over the course of the fight and dominated most of the 10 rounds with an aggressive style.
The WBA applauds Eubank’s return and hopes to see him defending his 160-pound title soon. The Hove, Sussex native improved his record to 30 wins, 2 losses, and 22 KOs. In Morrison’s case, he now has 23 wins, 4 losses, and 16 KOs.
