Yesterday took place the last press conference for the World Boxing Association Middleweight 160 lbs title fight between Jarrod Fletcher and Daniel Jacobs, to be held this Saturday in Brooklyn.
The main fight at the Barclays Center will be a nontitle fifth of Danny García, against Rod Salka.
The Australian Fletcher, current number 2 rated contender of the WBA, said he was happy to fight for the world title. “It’s my chance and I’m going to take it. I’ve dreamed about this since I was a child. It will be difficult”.
On his part, the American Jacobs, is the number three in the rankings, after thanking the trust and the opportunity he said “this Saturday I will become the first cancer survivor, to win a world boxing title”.
Besides he stressed he will be at home and he insisted that on Saturday he will become world champion.
New York State Athletic Commission appointed Michael Griffin as the referee f the fight and Adelaide Byrd (USA), Nelson Vázquez (PR) and Glenn Feldman (USA) as judges. The WBA supervisor will be Renzo Bagnariol.
