Francisco Fonseca won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedelatin super featherweight title by defeating Franco Gutiérrez by knockout in the second round at the Polideportivo Alexis Argüello, in Managua, Nicaragua.
The venue, named in honor of the Nicaraguan world boxing legend, was attended by great talent from the Central American country and had Fonseca as the main protagonist with a quick knockout that helped him win the regional belt of the pioneer organization.
Fonseca, with international experience and who has battled against good opponents, did his best to define early against his compatriot and fill with excitement the audience present at the event on Saturday night.
Fonseca has a clear objective and that is to get another shot at the world title. He has strung together four consecutive victories and is well on his way to achieving it.
The 27-year-old’s record stands at 29 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws and 23 knockouts, while Gutierrez has dropped his to 11 wins, 7 losses, 2 draws and 6 knockouts.
