The Echo Arena will enjoy a great night this Saturday. The Liverpool venue will have two homegrown boxers facing each other for the World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight international title in a great event for the city.

Anthony Fowler is the defending champion and will be challenged by the experienced Liam Smith, ensuring an action-packed and evenly matched bout.

The belt owner comes in with six wins in a row and will be making his second defense of the belt. Fowler, who is 30 years old, has fought against good level opponents but now wants to prove that he is ready for big things in the division should he defeat Smith.

The challenger is coming off a loss to Magoned Kurbanov in May but is a quality and experienced fighter who has fought the likes of “Canelo” Alvarez and Jaime Munguia. At 33 years old, he has the goal to fight for a world title again and this fight will be important for those aspirations.

The will be the main fight of the Matchroom Boxing event, which will also feature Shannon Courtenay vs. Jamie Mitchell. Fowler has a record of 15 wins, 1 loss and 12 knockouts, while Smith has 29 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw and 16 knockouts.
