Anthony Fowler will defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) international super welterweight belt against Rico Mueller this Saturday during Matchroom Boxing’s Fight Camp undercard in Brentwood, England.
The Liverpool native will make the second defense of his regional belt against the German challenger in one of the most interesting fights of the weekend.
Fowler is coming from knocking out Spain’s Jorge Fortea on March 20 and will return to the ring for a new challenge that will keep him moving up to a title shot. The 30-year-old fighter is on a five-fight winning streak since August 2019, which is evidence of the great sporting moment he is living.
Mueller, from Eberswalde, Brandenburg, and is the 33-year-old looking for a shocker that will bring him closer to big fights. The veteran has managed to string together three wins and that is why he has earned the chance to challenge Fowler for the international championship. He already has experience in regional championship fights in other organizations and that is one of his calling cards.
The fight will be part of the first week of the Fight Camp, in which Can Xu will defend his world featherweight championship against Leigh Wood and Conor Benn will defend his continental welterweight belt against Adrian Granados.
Fowler has a record of 14 wins, 1 loss and 11 knockouts, while Mueller has a record of 28 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw and 19 knockouts.
