It all started with an exchange of tweets, rumors and virtual provocations, until the official confirmation was reached: The World Boxing Association super middleweight champion, Franchon Crews-Dezurn, will face Savannah Marshall in the ring on June 17 and all the belts of the division will be at stake.
Although all the details are not yet known, the fight has been confirmed a few days ago and both boxers have announced on their social networks that they are getting ready inside the gym for what is to come.
“The Diva” Dezurn, who has a total of 8 victories with 2 knockouts and 1 setback, became undisputed champion on April 30, 2022 in what was the historic night headlined by Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden in New York, United States. Crews-Dezurn defeated the former black and gold champion Elin Cederroos and since that date has not returned to the ring, although there had been speculation with a presentation with her compatriot Shadasia Green, first in the WBA world ranking and who could become the next challenger for the winner in June.
For her part, “The Silent Assassin”, with 12 victories with 10 of them by knockout and only 1 loss, comes from a fight with multi-champion Claressa Shields, with whom her new opponent had the same luck on her professional debut. And although she lost on points in a chance to become the undisputed 160-pound champion, Marshall remains a power fighter with a hunger for glory.
Certainly, the show is a sure thing: with Crews-Dezurn’s constant volume aggression plus Marshall’s technical and powerful boxing, there will be another stadium burning its palms for applause.
