The World Boxing Association has a new Continental Americas middleweight champion. Francisco Veron defeated Timur Kerefov in a majority decision of the judges in the first date of the KO Drugs of Buenos Aires.
A fight that received a round of applause from those present at the Casino de Buenos Aires. Veron and Kerefov offered a luxurious show with the exchange of blows in the center of the ring and the technical work of both.
The tension was sustained from the opening bell. While Veron sought to impose himself with distance and the handling of his jab, Karefov sought the exchange with powerful combinations that forced the Argentine fighter to change his strategy and begin to use speed in conjunction with his offense seeking precision with high punches and to the body.
Round after round the intensity of both corners increased in a showy boxing presentation, each round being so competitive that it was not only spectacular, but also a difficult task for the judges.
In the end, Veron’s greater precision and quantity of punches prevailed, and although he also received a strong attack, his physical condition allowed him to absorb his opponent’s offensive well.
Veron remains undefeated, now with 13 wins, 10 of them by fast track. On the other hand, Kerefov suffered his first defeat and now has 13 victories to his credit.
